And the big news is....
I ordered a single carb conversion kit, nearly a year ago from MikuniOz.
Now fitted, it's an extremely tight fit but it doesn't touch.
There's a way to fit it, Y piece in first, attach the rubber mount to the carb and then slide the carb onto the new alloy inlet manifold, and tighten up.
If you haven't pre mounted the bolts in the mounting rubber it all has to come apart again.
As you can probably tell I had a few goes at this
Anyway, it really looks the part:

Also torqued up all the rear end, swing arm etc.

• The next jobs are to get oil in it and make sure she's oil tight.

• Get the starter motor back on and working

• Get it started

• Finish tidying up the wiring

And I'm back in the room.....
Where do the months go, I can't believe it was September I last posted an update.
This 1VJ is basically ready for an MOT so I'll try and update in some sort of order.
I found some brand new old stock indicators, so considering the front end is new I thought I best get them bought, the originals were manky.

The oil is in, took longer than I would have liked to build pressure and get a geyser out of the bleed hole. But all good, hoses, fittings and tank all oil tight.
Starters on and upgraded with slightly heavier cross section wires and an earth wire directly from the battery to the starter casing.
It started almost immediately which is always a blessing and has been started and stopped probably ten times to get some heat cycles into the engine.
I've removed the end baffle out of the exhaust so she's noisier than my other Tenere's.
Wiring has been much improved, although I want to add the male side of my battery charger fly lead to the loom side of the bike. I can then use the female CTEC on the battery to totally isolate the electrics or plug directly into the CTEC charger. I'll get a photo sorted which should explain better.

What I hadn't envisaged was the amount of work on the airbox firstly to get it to sit right and not rest on the carb actuator pulley and secondly to make a respectable job of joining the 3D printed Y piece from the rear of the carb, which came in the kit, to the original air tubes at the back of the airbox, photos to follow...

Looking down on to the right hand side 3D printed new Y piece. Don't worry the top shock bolt is now correctly torqued.


Modified underside of the original 1VJ airbox to get clearance for the throttle actuator pulley. Done with a powerful heat gun and lots of patience, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.

Here's a photo showing the view down from the original air tubes to the new Y piece.
There's easily 50mm of overlap and I've used clear silicon on the joints.

Once it's MOT'd and I've got a few miles on the clock I'm tempted to make sure the jetting and air flow are correct, so a trip to a motorcycle dyno.
Anyone got any recommendations in the North Wales or Liverpool area?

This carb kit skipped past me, can not remember you posting about it how long was it to ship over? Taxes/duties?
